Enter Gillen and Barr

Craig Gillen had but recently entered the law field. Conviction of a U. S. congressman would certainly advance his career. He then served as prosecuting attorney under then U. S. Attorney, Bob Barr, who is currently serving in the U. S. Congress. Barr and Swindall were not exactly friends.

Pat opposed Barr’s nomination for U. S Attorney General for northern Georgia. He based his opposition on numerous factors. For example, Pat perceived some of Barr’s acts as publicity stunts, demonstrating Barr as a politician first and seeker of justice second, regardless of victims his ethic produced.

Therefore, it proved bad news for Pat when later indicted by Gillen to testify before a grand jury regarding his knowledge of LeChasney after LeChasney’s arrest. This provided an ideal circumstance for Barr, if desired, to gain publicity for indicting the only U. S. congressman ever during an election. Barr could also, if desired, enjoy revenge by intercepting Pat’s career.

Letters to Gillen and Barr

Accurately presenting this case requires Craig Gillen and Bob Barr to appear highly disingenuous. Therefore, it seems fair to offer an opportunity to present their biases. Following is a reprint of letters sent to each offering that opportunity.

Mr. Craig A. Gillen

3490 Piedmont Rd. N.E., Suite 1050

Atlanta, GA 30305

Dear Mr. Gillen,

I am currently researching the political career of former U. S. congressman Pat Swindall for a publication entitled Introducing Pat Swindall. Presently, my only available information regarding his perjury case is from newspaper articles, public records, and personal records that Mr. Swindall has made available to me. Considering that this was a matter of public interest, I hope you will provide a brief statement to help readers form an accurate opinion. Is it conceivable to you that Pat Swindall was wrongly convicted?

Thank you in advance for your patient, considerate follow-up to this inquiry. I greatly appreciate it. Enclosed is a self-addressed, stamped envelope for your convenience. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

G. Zeineldé Jordan

Their Responses

Neither responded. Nor did Barr respond to Pat’s on-going invitation to phone or visit the Pat Swindall Show to defend himself against Pat’s charges.
