Terms and Definitions

Following are the author’s use of terms.
Atheist, theist: Theism is a belief system incorporating a god or gods into the lives of humans. Atheism rejects god concepts. Atheists and theists are the individuals guided by those belief systems.
Agnostic: Agnostics holds it is unknowable whether a god or gods exist.
Authoritarian: An advocate espousing absolute obedience of the citizenry to the absolute authority of the state at the expense of individual freedom and liberty.
Centrist: One who avoids political extremes by taking a position in the center. Used by the author to represent complacency.
Communism: A system of government (usually authoritarian) that controls the means of production to establish an order of equal distribution to the people regardless of their contribution. Socialism is the same, with the exception that private enterprises retain their names. Under communism, all means of production bear the name of the state.
Ecclesiasticism: Excessive adherence to religious principles.
Egalitarianism: All persons are equal in all aspects regardless of handicaps or strengths.
Humanism: A movement concerned with humans’ abilities and achievements. God is a non-issue.

Oligarchy: Government by the privileged few over the masses.
Totalitarian: A government exercising total control over its citizenry in all aspects of life. Opposing parties are not permitted to exist.
Secularist: One who is worldly rather than spiritual.
Socialist: Socialism; see communism.
Theocracy: A state governed by a God.
