Summary
Fortunately, history presents Christian
saints as well. Christian saints smuggled Jews from Germany during the holocaust despite differing faiths.
However, sadly, the true Christian saints usually are not well known, for they
are the ones who follow Jesus’ teachings, which means
they are not on the front pages of newspapers and magazines. They are the ones
who are meek and mild; they stand at the door and knock. They are the ones who
reach out to the people in their lives; they stand at the door and knock. They
are the ones who preach only to open ears; they stand at the door and knock.
They are the ones who trust Jesus, through them, will shine to the lost by
their example; they stand at the door and knock. They are the ones who do not
force their Jesus on other people; they stand at the door and knock. They are
the ones who love and befriend others regardless of their lifestyles; they
stand at the door and knock. They are the ones who do not judge; they stand at
the door and knock. They are the ones who do not incarcerate, but pray for and
minister to the lost; they stand at the door and knock. They are the ones who
slip through the cracks of popularity and notoriety. Mother Theresas and Corrie
Ten Booms may be few and far between, but some follow quietly in their
footsteps. Still today Christians share their faith and aid poor and persecuted
peoples on every continent. Many Christian entities feed and house the
impoverished Americans who government failed.
As I type and as you read, countless
Christians are being jailed and murdered in China. What is their crime? They believe in Jesus Christ.
What atrocities are they committing? Who is harmed by their belief? Their only
human support is from Christians world-wide who supply them
Bibles, and even visit China at risk of imprisonment and murder, to deliver them
aid.
Meanwhile, here in America we have both a government that has granted China (one of our nation’s greatest enemies)
most-favored-nation trading status, and a president who sold it nuclear
technology and enjoyed Chinese campaign contributions in return. Some call that
foreign relations; others call it treason. A Pat Swindall on Capitol Hill would
never allow favored relations with any country persecuting its subjects
regardless of religiosity.
Does being a saint mean being someone who
never sins or does wrong? Of course not. It means
one’s works glorify Christ.
Indeed, history has produced Christian
saints. They exist today. Perhaps one could enter Congress; honor the First
Amendment; take heat from unconstitutional Christian zealots; defy political
duplicity; endure federal entrapment and prison time; honor his sworn oath to
uphold the U. S. Constitution (the real thing) in a political structure that
has sold out to totalitarianism; broadcast Truth over airwaves; prove true to
his convictions in times of hardship and disgrace; and trust his Lord
throughout it all, leading me, my wife and mother to salvation.
This man proved "eminent of virtue." Indeed, though the communists,
socialists, Secular Humanists, etc. march onward in America, their accused—the ugly-duckling
perjurer—proved to be a saint. To God be
the glory! Amen.
